I've this afternoon installed sh404SEF and have configured it as well as possible to avoid lots of 404's during the transition from plain sef to sh404sef.

A number of issues may be still occurring, though I hope that the number of 404's people are getting will quickly diminish once the current batch of email notifications from the forum and the community components have all been read and replaced with new ones.

If you do find any problems with the new SEF, please post them here.

Hey Patrick,

I've tried running sh404SEF on Loddon Alive several times and get nothing but crashes. I don't know if this relates to Jomsocial or whether it is to do with the transfer of the site from standard Joomla articles across to K2. It's a big job to check all the URLs of course.

Anyway, I got an invite from you to join MJUG, but ended up redirected somewhere or other. Perhaps best to wait until it all settles down.

I trust you have the latest version of sh404sef with all the new extensions released the other day mate.

Cheers,

It is the latest version.

Side effect of when it was installed is that all notification emails sent out BEFORE it was installed are causing 404 errors.

All sent AFTER are working fine as they're sending with the new SEF conversion.

So to respond to the requests in the Community part of the site that you might have received before 4pm today, go to http://joomla.org.au/community and in your profile you should see the requests that you can follow up.

For forum threads that give the 404, most are showing the correct new url as the first suggestion in the urls list on the 404 page, so that should take you to where you were looking to go.

Have also just updated all the forum category titles - the SEF component made all the ones that were General Discussion go to the same place. Raising a bug report for kunena (need to have a category alias field) and sh404SEF (need to have the ability in the default plugin to make the urls unique).

Also for the jomsocial sh404sef plugin, need to make an option to not create sef urls for inbox messages.

Patrick my URL on hidden menu entry 185 should be using the alias "community-events", but isn't. It redirects to joomla.org.au/community-events/events/. How can I stop it adding the extra bit please? Will I have to create custom URLs for all the menu aliases?

thanks
