I have created an event in the category "MJUG" for the next MJUG meeting.

The parent community page (joomla.org.au/community) contains a link but the MJUG community page (joomla.org.au/community/jug/melbourne-joomla-user-group) does not.

Is this a bug or a just a transitional problem?

It's a JomSocial 'Feature'. The module does not allow us to specify which group we're showing events for. SO on a Group page, it shows them for the current group only and excludes non-group events.

Very annoying, since we cant use group events as they dont allow invites. Catch 22.

Bah!

Will have to contrive a solution. I'll just tweak the module code.

Thanks, Dex.

I misinterpreted the "Category" (="MJUG") in joomla.org.au/community-events/viewevent?eventid=4 as referring to MJUG's community group. Clearly it's something else . . . U-u-m, what *does* the category mean?

BTW, the helpful map at the above link shows Blackburn, England. No very helpful! I don't seem to have any control over that.

Category is just a bucket. However, it will help me tweak the module.

What's wrong with Blackburn? It can be nice a this time of year.

OK I had probs with the base coordinates on Google. I'll add it to my list.

Dex,

You'll be pleased to know that Joomla People (see people.joomla.org/events/viewevent/276-M...ing.html?groupid=228) has exactly the same problem with the map.

Ha ha ha ha!
I was trying to find a solution to the Blackburn bug by searching Google, and our very own bug forum post came up as entry 10. So helpful.

With some obvious advice from a local Blackburnite, I found that I could overcome the said error by entering an explicit address like "3 Thiele Court Blackburn Vic Australia" rather than just "3 Thiele Court Blackburn".

Mmm. JomSocial seems to have an interesting and varied integration with Google maps. At other points it requires separate fields for street address, town, state, country. And even that is not so reliable. I think the JomSocial upgrade I'm about to fling on will help.
