Just bought a 1.5 template but the current setup I have runs 1.0. Now I can't install the template onto the 1.0 can I? I know they are both different.

Should I delete the 1.0 install and start again and then install the template? Should I unzip it first or should it be OK to do direct from a zipped file?

Cheers,

John

If you are building a new site, in my opinion, you shoudl install Joomla! 1.5 and start from there.

So if there is no content (i.e. articles, pages whatever) in there - delete the
1.0 install and install 1.5. ( but do back up everything first just in case you need it)

Otherwise _ I would expect that a reputable provider would give you a credit on the purchase anyway.

And I should add that if you already have content (web pages) in there it can be upgraded to 1.5 format

I do have content on the exisitng site so what I am thinking is a clunky but.....

Copy all the html code from the existing site and then create the new menus, modules, etc on the new one and then paste it into the new one.

Or maybe I should back everything up and then have a go at the conversion from 1.0 to 1.5. Can't do any harm I suppose.

What do you mean "reputable provider would give you a credit on the purchase anyway.
"? Doyou meen the compmay that sold me the template or the web hosting company I use?

Thanks again

JL

I'm thinking the company you bought the template from would probably let you swap it.

Thanks for the help. I am currently going through the template and editing it. A bit different to templates I have used before but I am sure I will get there by 2022....
