G'day there!

I'm having a bit of a struggle with the ACL in Joomla 1.6.0.

The help file appears to be the help for version 1.5.

I found an article by Jen Kramer which is very well written and deals with exactly what I want to do. community.joomla.org/blogs/community/1256-16-acl2.html

Trouble is, a few things have changed since she wrote at the time of Beta 6. This leaves me in confusion whether what I'm reading and trying to convert is reliable. When things don't work out, I don't know whether I've misunderstood or if the system has changed.

Is there anything up to date available that would be helpful to a struggling little fella, out of his depth but striving to learn?

Laurie, most of the material I covered in my talk last May is still relevant.

The only change have been to the UI of the permission controls but the mechanics are still the same. Hope this helps.

If your talk holds true, then so will Jen's article as it comes from the same time period.

I'll continue to use them in tandem.

I found the You Tube version of your talk, the other day, and have viewed it a couple of times.

Also found the bug report on edit own. That's my issue so I'll keep at it.

Got it all sorted thanks. Jen's article and Andrerw's video were invaluable.

I do realize that most of this stuff is volunteer work and appreciate it.

Jen's article may not take all that much work to update. I spent a lot of time sorting out the confusion due to the lack of correct images and some changed names.

It was rather taxing for a fella for whom there was no such thing as a personal computer when I finished my education. My kids taught me computer basics when in high school.
