I'm implementing in a Joomla 1.5 site with paid (using Paypal) membership to access some content.

After some reading, it seems like I would need to use the AEC extension. AEC requires Community builder, I'm concerned having to many extensions dependencies.

AEC is not supporting 1.5 yet, legacy mode must be used. What are the cons: speed, stability, ...? I'd rather use native 1.5 extensions.

What other options/extensions are available to implement this?

I'd like to hear your experience/suggestions, thanks.

Hi Julien

Hm, I've implemented AEC without Community Builder.
I'm with you on using native 1.5.
I have just installed JoomSuite member and it's ealry days but looking good:

Hope this helps.

Thanks, looks good. Someone mentioned that you need ionCube installed on your server for this component. Do you have to buy this?
They also said that goDaddy doesn't support ionCube, I was thinking on hosting a test site with them, doh! Any other hosting recommendations for a test site?

Ioncube is a free download here: www.ioncube.com/

See hosting list here for a good start:

My advice is that choosing a host turns out to be a very important decision! Choose wisely and it can save you a LOT of time and hassles.
