I thought we could use a thread where we can ask for extensions and in particular personal recommendations. I think there's plenty of chat about this sort of thing at the User Group meetings.

1) I need an extension to display a persons stat's (think sporting genre) or bio details. Any good components out there ?

Basically, either component needs to display text, images, links, etc...

Community builder would do bio details of a user who is in a sports team (as it can generate custom fields and descriptions).

I see where you're heading, but the people wouldn't actually be members of the site.

Imagine ... ummm ... doing a bio of all the best tennis players in the world. You'd want to bio them without them actually being a member of the site. Does CB work like that ?, I thought CB only worked for defined members.

Not quite sure about your need here, but i've used DBQ in the past, to some effect.

It allows you to generate your own forms, but more than that you can report on anything in the DB and also create your own tables & queries to support them. For front-end adding/editing/reporting on your own data, within Joomla.

If you are using 1.5 I could build a custom one.

Let me know what the fields are and a bit more details.

DBQ actually has a big brother called Logos Query Manager (I wonder why?) that runs on Joomla 1.5. see extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...k_id,2306/Itemid,35/

I must say, if it was me wanting to report on some fields in the db, i'd just use one of the PHP include mambots and write the PHP code and pop it in content.

Yes, I've seen DBQ before ... that's what I was thinking of for the second option
