Hi All,
New to the forum, and looking forward to getting involved... maybe even attending some meetings.

Anyways, my question is ...What is your ecommerce preference for your joomla sites?

I'm currently playing around with virtuemart 1.1.2 and following these steps http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=44489.msg144323 to convert it for Australian trading. I havent tried converting 1.1.3.

Anyways, just wondering if there are any other 'secure' solutions that i might be able to implement out of the box.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

It depends a tad on what you are doing - for many products - I am still happily using VM, but I hear Magento is a favourite. For only a few products or simple subscriptions, I use paypal buttons.

Thanks JLJ,
I'll take a look at Magento. I take it that it's not a component of Joomla?

In regards to using VM, do you have this set up for Australian trading specifically?

Thanks

HI Napalm

Magento is a separate O/S product, but recently joomla template companies (e.g. Joomlart) have started releasing Magento templates. I think this tells us something!

There is a user community on Magento's site (magentocommerce.com) and the most active group is....'Joomla Integration'.

I'm looking in to it myself and it looks quite promising. Will be using it in the coming weeks on a few sites, to give it a run. There are also two Aussie groups in magento community....

and

I agree with JLJ's great advice about the use of Paypal and Virtuemart for smaller sites tho!

Much new territory to explore!

Of course another eCommerce option is OpenFreeway which can be fully integrated with Joomla.

ZacWare (sponsor's of Open Freeway) gave a great presentation at the Melbourne Joomla Day inc a quick overview of Open Freeway.

Work a try and as it's built here in Oz localisations are already built in

Thanks guys,

I'm currently playing around with Magento. I will then check out Open Freeway.
Thanks
