Ok, firstly, the plug for the Joomla Downunder group... check it out if you're a facebooker.

So, superb or scourge?

Superb: I'm finding it superb (though addictive initially) in that I've got a number of networks and groups (uni alumni, photography club, joomla) where there's either people from the past that I'm catching up with for the first time in years, or that there's new people I'm meeting and able to use facebook to network with.

Scourge: Applications are often a pain in the butt and a waste of time. Though reading the facebook blog, there may be features coming in soon that fix that. Sounds just like looking at features forums for a number of Joomla components

Hm. I have been to too many web gatherings where people discuss ID aggregation...and what entities like Facebook and MySpace do with the information they gather from you. So I think I'll keep my beak out of Facebook for a bit...

Well OK, I'm going in Fakebook, because people keep inviting me and I cant curb my dang curiosity....

Facebook is good, but I'm on MySpace only because of the invites and it's just online teenage graffiti most of the time. At least 99% of people don't bother hacking the FB CSS so you're left to read the content not trying to find it in the template.
