Hello all,
wondering if someone might be able to help me - I have been working on a new site for airline pilots (aircrew.net.au) and am currently getting to the end of my tether trying to figure out how to get automated content via a news feed.

I am trying to find a way to get a feed from reuters (I have emailed them but no reply) and display it just like this website:

news.airwise.com/index.html

when you click on their news item it has the full article on their site rather than redirecting you to reuters.

Does any one know how I could achieve this?

Hm no, but I'd be interested to hear the answer. The only thing I can think of is using an iframe to keep Reuters content inside your site.
I guess Reuters have the answer.

interestingly, the airwise site does not use frames to open up the reuters story.
the only thing I can think of is that the website choses to cut and paste all of the stories on their own site - which contravenes reuters useage pilocy.
I will ring reuters and let you know if I find out anything.

One thing I am finding with my site is it is a hard task finding the content to put up on the site. I know once it is really well supported that people will contribute, but getting the ball rolling is difficult.

One other question if I could - at the moment, I am using 1.5 and I have noticed that only admin can submit an article. I thought that 1.5 had a submit function that allowed that users to submit and it then needed approval from admin before posting. Have I done something wrong or is this a component I need to install?

If anyone has some suggestions on how to improve my site - I am all ears.

Hi Mark

Yes, general wisdom suggests that on a site like this, it will take 12-18 months to be self-sustaining in terms of people contributing enough content. It will need some gentle and creative fostering of contributors in the beginning.

I did notice they weren't using frames, and came to the same conclusion as you. Which rather defeats the idea of a newsfeed!

Yes your people should be able to submit content. Try it here on this site - we're on 1.5.3. No add-ons required, it's native Joomla!

Your site looks fantastic by the way - well done!
