Hi

I have been researching free image extension and have just got confused. I think this is what I want.

"The Happy endings page" A place where people can upload photos and text about there re-homed dog.

I figure I need a form extension, Gallery extension and moderation.

The think the form/gallery should allow multiple uploads into an individual folder.

So which is a good content submission solution?
A good image gallery?
Best linking of articles and photos solution?

Hi

There are so many solutions to this. I've just been trying a few myself and not yet resolved. I would not separate loading of text and images - just use a gallery where you can add photos along with text.

Phoca Gallery is very popular extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-...s/photo-gallery/3150
As is RS Gallery 2 extensions.joomla.org/extensions/photos-...es/photo-gallery/142

Also you can hook in galleries from services like Flickr, Picasa...etc using a Joomla module.

As you can tell, I'm not the expert on this - can anyone else chip in please?

I Like Ignite! [http://www.ignitejoomlaextensions.com/]

But it's not free - maybe you can mosey around and get a couple of supporters to kick in a few dollars to help you out.

But check it out first as it may not meet your needs - I agree with dex - if a range of members of the public are going to be doing this - keep it simple just a gallery addon allowing captions - may suffice..?

Also - I'm no expert!!

JoomGallery is my choice for what you are doing. If you're expecting 5000+ users a day to upload photos those I highly NOT recommend it as it is very resource intensive and requires tweaks for it to be manageable.

If you're expecting 50 a day then it is fine.

Image processing on any extension does require server resources and try them out and test the resource levels of the server that you're on.

I don't think I'm an expert on this either but I've worked right in to the code of JoomGalery to get it working efficiently.

Good luck.

JoomGallery looks good. Thanks buipy001

But I have worked myself into a corner where I have no idea what is going on. I'm just not getting the whole Joomla concept. Yes Ive learned a heap of stuff in my search. But the simple things have got me lost. I'm sure its a basic function I cant see how to use.

This is what I have achieved so far. Created articles about individual dogs in category under the section dogs. Edit and upload images using JCE editor. I can even build popup image groups. Great. Now I want to click on a menu item, call up a list of dogs in the category with thumbnail and description. Sounds simple and it needs to be. I can do it in a module using Pro JK1. But I want it in the main body. Categories list does not have thumbnails and the blog does not size the image. I could ditch the template I'm using start again and use modules some how but I doubt that is a solution.

It needs to be simple to add a dog and see results.

Lost so Im going to bed.
Cheers
