Bug Squad talking/wonders - do you use Joomla!'s content archive - and if you do - how does it - or doesn't it - meet needs

This was posted by @AmyStephen on Twitter last week, and is being covered in the February MJUG as a topic.

Post your thoughts here as to whether or not you use Content Archive, and how you use it, and whether it meets your needs. How can it be improved?

As it's the Bug Squad wondering about it all, it's likely that feedback will be used to enhance the feature in future Joomla builds.

We ended up with a small discussion on this at JMUG, and a few more comments came through on Twitter.

Not many people seem to be using this at the moment. The main reasons appear to be
- not having enough content to archive
- only the one option for the archive menu layout, so it doesn't give flexibility.
- the filter by date only works effectively with lots of archived content

So the suggestions are:
- Create some extra options for the layout
- show as a list not a blog format
- option to turn off filter
- look at how it's included in the search on the site
- look at hiding archive content from search

Any other suggestions?
