Hi everyone,

I'm still a newbie and a wanna be in joomla, I've found this forum helpful and have since decided to join. Can someone please help - which is the best backup plugin? preferrably free. I looked at Arkeeba, the free version - I was put off by the comment - use at your own risk. Is it reliable or is there something better out there.

thank you so much for your help in advance

Hi there.

I think the nature of all software is to use at your own risk - that's why you are backing up in the first place!

Akeeba is the rebranded version of Joomlapack, which I have used for years. I have to confess I have not actually used akeeba yet - but do expect to move onto using it.

However, although I do back up realtively frequently using joomlapack (the older version of akeeba), I also do manual backups - I think you can never rely 100% on any one digital entity (which is why I back up) including backups.

When you do a manual backup be sure to back up both the web directory and the database. Hope this helps, I'll be interested to hear what others say.

The other advantage of akeeba / joomlapack is it's kickstart set up that make moving a joomla site a snap.
