Hi all,

Just been trying to get Acajoom to work sending newsletters out via google apps email, and not getting very far ..

Has anyone been able to get this going ?

Much as I like the idea of "outsourcing" the email service to Google, I prefer the idea of being able to send newsletters.

It seems Google Apps needs a secure STMP connction and from what I can see Acajoom can't be confiured to work in such a manner ?

Anyway- and hints or tips would be most welcomed

Cheers

Martin

Martin,

Andre Camilleri has been sending using Google SMTP using Acajoom. Have sent him this URL to respond to.

There are however limits to Google Mail, and probably with your host having sendmail limits, hence the reason my new server's coming online soon so I can send out my 50,000 emails a month for clients... all the other services I've looked at are particularly uneconomical.

Hi Patric

Thanks for fwd'ing to Andre.

At this stage the newsletter is only being sent to ~ 20 people so hardly likely to raise any flags.

From my understanding Jumba blocks all SMTP ports, if this includes the ones used by Gmail I'm not sure, still pending a reply on that one.

Anyway if I get a solution I'll post here.

Cheers

Hi,
I am sending via Google Apps. I set it up a while ago, don't remember the details exactly, but the main thing you need to do is this:

Set up your Google Apps account and activate it by uploading this Google security html page to your server.

You need to set up your hosting of your domain for all your emails to send and receive through Google Apps. This can be tricky if you have many email addresses as Google charges you $50 per year for each email address and you can't just have one email adress at your domain to go via Google and the rest through your provider's server.

I am therfore using a domain I had previously registered but I am not doing anything else with it so I only have to pay for the one email account with Google to be able to send my newsletter. I had about one yar of grief trying to get my newsletter out there so this is great cause it does the job for $50.

Martin - I don't know that Google Mail will be your solution reading Andre's post. I knew there was a step that he had to do that had complicated things a bit.

Any reason in Acajoom that you're having to use SMTP? Sendmail or PHPMail should both work too, unless Jumba's stopping or limiting that too - in which case, I'd be hosting shopping.

For 20 emails, (even for 200 emails) sending from acajoom using sendmail should be the way to go.

Skype me to discuss more.
