I am using the rhuk_milkyway template and I have a problem of the text in the articles over running into the border. All articles seem to do it on the home page. If you drill down to the other menus the articles are OK. It happens on all of the templates that come with the Joomla installation.

I also get the error:
The parameter file /templates/rhuk_milkyway/params.ini is unwritable!

What permissions does this file need. The only way I can remove this error is to give rwx rights to everybody; but because of security concerns this method is not very appealing.

Any help I can get with these two issues would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Glenn

Hi Glenn

You don't mention Joomla version, but I've not seen this problem with RHUK before. No URL, so I cant look at your site, but the most common thing to cause overrun like this is a very long word (e.g. a long URL) or a wide pic, that can't be wrapped.

Failing that, if you can supply a URL it would be useful.

Gday Glenn
Dex has already asked for more detail which would be good to help you a bit more. I'd agree with the suggestions Dex has made and also suggest trying to see if you can get the problem to occur on different pages perhaps with no left or right modules enabled.

With the permissions for the template parameters file that shouldn't be an issue unless you want to change the parameters in your template eg column widths etc. You would need to use ftp or Cpanel to relax the permissions for that file or possible the directory its in. I'd recommend relaxing the permissions making your template changes then perhaps locking the permissions back up again for security. Please reply if you need more of a hand with this stuff. Let us know if you are using FTP to change permissions for Cpanel or if none of this makes sense <grin>.

I assume that you are using Joomla 1.5 as I don't think template parameters exist in 1.0?

Thanks for your response. Sorry that I have taken so long but I lost my user password and the email has just turned up to allow me to change it.

The joomla set up I had was on a home pc and it was unreachable from the outside. To change the templates I used terminal to change the permissions (but I did not change them back).

Due to an admin accident I have lost the Joomla set up I had, although the MySQL databases still exist.

Soon I will have another go at it and hopefully the formatting problems I had won't happen again.

Cheers.

Glenn.

Good luck!
and by the way, if you lose your superadmin password, then as long as you have access to your MySQL database, e.g. via your hosting account using PHPMyAdmin or similar, you can reset the password. See article here:
