I am planning to redevelop this site in JomSocial shortly. So taking the plunge on paid components - we've only ever used non-commercial until now. But I see the rise of Kunena to replace Fireboard and a welcome escape from legacy mode, and I'd like to take this opportunity to upgrade from the old faithful Community Builder to a newer community system with enhanced communication and functions - groups, walls, activity streams.

Also we'll add a professionsals directory. It's been coming soon for too long!

I would also like to look at performance issues, as this site is rather slow.

Please feel free to leave feedback on the plan here. Or offer help.

Thanks
Dex

I really like VBulletin .. someday I am just going to have to write a good bridge between joomla and VB

Good luck with changing things over, I will be intersted to see how it works

Dex, please give it a careful test on a test environment.
I am still encountering very strange things with the two components. Something freaky happened to Kunena on www.deutscheinmelbourne.net.
It could be the combination of both components, but can also be something else:

New forum entries get the same (and uneditable) subject "No Process".
More details in the Kunena forum under
www.kunena.com/forum?func=view&catid=4&id=7081.

I really need a clue.

Forum vs JomSocial: I would consider JomSocial a nice add-on but not a substitute for a forum. I think they can and should nicely co-exist on sites like this.
