Thanks to Tim at Tuesday's SJUG meeting, I worked out how to reposition System Messages by moving the following code in my Afterburner template's index.php:

<div id="message">
<jdoc:include type="message" />
</div>

However, messages still appear as boring:

"Message

◦Thank you for voting!"

I've searched Joomla.org for extensions to replace the standard system message and forums for ways to format it with CSS. I've tweaked templates\system\css\system.css and even looked at the daunting libraries/joomla/document/html/renderer/message.php

The former had no effect and while the latter allowed me to get rid of the boring "Message" heading, I am concerned fiddling with this file may have unforseen consequences for serious error messages.

Does anyone have a favourite extension for replacing standard system messages or tips for formatting?

Regards,
Robert

(PS. Thanks for another great SJUG meeting on Tuesday)

Hey Robert,

You should be able to completely customise that message using the CSS.

I think JA_Purity has the CSS built in to its main CSS style sheet. Thats what I've been using.

Hi Peter,
I did try using JA_Purity CSS (or something similar - I found a post recommending this elsewhere) but I must have been putting it in the wrong CSS file because it made no difference.

Should I be putting it in templates\system\css\system.css or adding it to the CSS files in the rt_afterburner_j15\css directory?

Regards,
Robert

RTFM! Thanks, Peter, I should have looked before asking, because it occurred to me that if I checked the CSS folders in the JA_Purity template I'd answer my own question.

Now I'm going to put the CSS in the Afterburner CSS folder and see what happens.

Robert

RTFM #2! Thanks again, Peter. As you suggested, using JA_Purity type CSS in the stylesheets in the Afterburner template's CSS folder worked.
