first off; *fantastic* to see an aussie centric/slanted joomla support site!
I'll be dishing out the help asap. but it'll be quickly apparent that i'm a green noobie...

to my question;

i've slapped together a v.basic site with joomla 1.5 www.naringalchurch.org

when i'm on the frontpage i can see the 'resources' menu section. but when i click on any of the 'main' menu section links, the main menu stays put and the 'resources' menu section disappears.

I've had a quick read/n/search of The Fine Manual but i couldn't see anything to help a dummy such as myself...
I've also had a search on the www.joomla.org fora, same result. I reckon i just don't know what i'm looking for properly.

Would some kind person point my obvious and simple mistake?

If you go to Modules > Site Modules and in the dropdown at top right select type 'mainmenu' you will see that each of your menus has a module. Edit the module for your resources menu. Once in there, you will see on the right (for 1.0.x or at the bottom for 1.5.x) a list of all your site menu entries. Either multi-select those menu entries for which you want your resources menu displayed, or select 'All' to display on all pages.

Note that if you add menu entires later, you will need to repeat the selection process.

I can't get it to work when i click the 'faq' link, i think it's because i've got caching turned on. I'm sure that will resolve itself.

what version of Joomla! are you on? I've had some interesting caching issues with 1.5.x myself. I had to turn off the cache and delete the cache directory.
