Hi all

Any video experts out there? I'm trying to find a player for WMV and SWF videos that can play in a module. I've tried AVReloaded and cant make it work, even after flogging the forum for answers. I get black screen of death, or just sound.

[I'm using Avreloaded for videos in content, even though not all the functions work]

Any clues?
Going a bit barmy here...

Thx

Just tried this Dex - using the video manager from JCE inserted a .flv video into a module postion (obviously using custom HTML module)
I'll PM you a link

Cheers

Hi Dex,

I use this one and it will do ALL video types. Its a plugin and you can place video's in a module.

Allvideo's 3.3 by Joomlaworks. It's simple, straightforward and works nicely.

Had to do this similarly for an MP3 yesterday, and used AllVideos Plugin, however due to 1.5 not triggering plugins in custom modules, there's a workaround using Joomlaworks UCD (Ultimate Content Display) module to call an article that has the video placed in it.

forum.joomlaworks.gr/allvideos-%28plugin...de-block-content%29/

Obviously it depends on how big a video you want to display, and the MP3 player fits nicely in the module position I've got it in. But that's too narrow for the video I've got on the same site (www.equitana.com.au/news - bottom of the left column has the video and the MP3 player links).

The video is done as a custom module with a screen grab of the video as a slide. There is then a link on this button that has a JCE Media Box popup code to load the YouTube video directly. To do the same with a WMV/SWF on your site, create an article and put AllVideos plugin code in to load the player, and then trigger the article as the popup.

www.joomlacontenteditor.net/support/tutorials/jcemediabox has a number of tutorials on different content.

Interesting answers from all thanks.

I ended up using allvideosreloaded (rather than allvideos) in the first place due to some advantages with initial image (as I recall). But it's no longer in development.

Also I dont have FLV, I'm only using WMV and SWF so that knocks out a bunch of players.

I have tried the allvideos path, but it's asking me to install silverlight for WMV. Hmmm..no good.

AVR allows WMV without asking for this.

ANyway Allvideos is not working - showing a blank - must be some javascript conflict, hence AVR not working either.

Will pursue.

I use Adobe Flash Video Encoder (comes with Flash Professional) which converts all video formats to a FLV - the movie I tried in a module postion using JCE and Custom HTML was originally a MOV video.

Hi Ian

Yes good choice. Maybe I can prevail on my client to convert his vids. I think this is perhaps the best path.

Thanks again.

If they're after conversion software without the $$$, either Super or VLC Player should enable them to do most formats.

The WMV will probably be the one giving you grief. The SWF flash file should just embed as normal content using either html or JCE to insert it.

Oddly it's the converse - WMV will play in content but not in modles. SWF wont play anywhere.

This is why I suspect a Javascript clash.

I use the flash mod (all the time) for swf - but won't do wmv:
