I've just been reading one of the virtuemart forums posts on setting up VM 1.1.3 for Australian shops. (forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=54517.0)

Quite a few updates from Norm, Ric & Patrick.

I'm wondering if anyone know if these "adjustments" are needed or supported by v1.1.4 ?

Cheers

Can't help you there Martin. 1.1.3 was so full of bugs I'm scared to upgrade..

I note that Tienda is now in production Beta Martin and includes a VM import feature. Perhaps worth a look. I've heard good reports so far.

anyone really played with Magento. Im just getting in to it. I find that you really have to know your server well to get it working perfectly.

I think Dex has had a fiddle with Magento and even wrote a custom Paypal subscription add on for it..

I did, although I didnt do the server stuff. And it was a while ago now, so I doubt i'm much help. I'm hoping Tienda will fill the gap in the J store market myself.

Just stumbled across this in the JED
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/shopping-cart/11571

New shopping cart system. It looks very easy to customise.

Don't know about AU support though.

First thing you need to look at is whether or not you can produce an Australian Tax Invoice. If not, the system effectively becomes illegal because of your invoices.

Reports are that this is easily effected with Tienda, but I haven't had a chance to play yet.
