Hi.

I am trying to achieve an enquiry system for a client possibly using virtuemart or another cart if one could be suggested.

The enquiry system is to work much the same as a shopping cart where the user could add items to the cart and then when they check out a thank you page saying "your enquiry has been sent" would appear and an email would be sent to my client saying "this user" would like a quote in regards to the items they selected in their cart. Then my client would manually forward an email.

Some concepts are:

Prices are not to be shown
Cart items are updatable and with picutres

So my question i'd like to ask is... is there a enquire/cart type system or better shopping cart suited for this or would the best idea be to use Virtuemart and then at the checkout screen figure out how to send the shopping cart variables via email to my client?

an example would be something like http://www.decorativeevents.com.au/?p=100-Centrepieces

      Thanks,

      Piers

Funnily enough I've been asked to do something similar but rather than request a quote (when cart metaphorically geso to checkout) it will be submutting an order and payment ect will be invoiced etc offline.

I'm thinking modifying vrituemart for this as it would be a pretty small change - but on the other hand I'm having a few glitchy porbs with virtuemart in 1.5 lately....

Depending on the number of "products", I would be more disposed to use a form with a drop down list. VM 1.5.3 seems to be terribly 'buggy" and they even say so on their blog. I've had nothing but trouble with it of late on a couple of sites.

Thats a good idea - I think that an updatable form for my client could probably suffice.

      Thanks

There's a couple of good form extensions around... RS Forms and Joomla Forms. I've used both, but prefer Joomla Forms from Phil Taylor.

I want to make my virtuemart site as a product enquiry system. It shoul be like, Users can add product to the cart and when they click the enquiry button it should show up the cart and they can select the product and send the enquiry about the product to the site administrator.

Can somebody help me with this? Its very urgent
