Hi all,
I've read a fair few articles on various forum plugins for joomla. Most of them would say things to the effect of 'bridged mode'. I would assume that this means the plugin does the 'translating' work to make it appear as if joomla is actually doing the forum work.
so, if my assumption is right, does this mean a bridged-mode forum means a performance hit for one's site? If so, how much by?
In the real world, does that performance hit really matter?
Does bridged mode introduce additional, potential security issues?
and, finally,
are there any joomla 1.5 native forum modules/plugins that work without needing to be in bridged mode?
ps. I suppose that there can't be whole lot of things wrong with this system as so many sites work ok with bridged mode forum.
I'm just very curious about this side of joomla.
and, yes, i want to implement a forum but am decidedly cautious about blithely implementing it.
Your feedback is appreciated as always.
