Hi,
I haven't introduced myself at the welcome mat - sorry - but I just found this group and am trying to get this done quickly so my apologies if this is rude.

My name is Meryl Dorey and I'm President of the Australian Vaccination Network and editor of our magazine, Living Wisdom (formerly Informed Voice). We currently have 2 linked websites which were constructed in Joomla by our very talented designer who has now gone overseas. Since she left, we have gotten together a wish list of things that we need added / done to the site and have had 2 people look at doing it but other work committments have prevented that happening.

I am hoping that some enterprising and talented coder here would like to take this on. WE have a beginners list which I will put below but this would probably be an ongoing position for the right person as we are growing and expanding the website pretty well all the time and could really use someone who can take a lot of this work on for us.

Anyway, here goes:

1. We need to set up downloadable subscriptions and the ability to download our information packs, single articles from the magazine, etc. This one is very important and has the ability to really help us to spread our subscription base out of Ausralia.
2. Is there a way to set up our memberships so that new members will automatically be set up to receive a 10% discount on purchases (part of the membership ‘perks’) and be given an automatic user ID and password? Right now, they have to email us and we set them up manually – very clunky and time-consuming! (I have checked out a shopping cart system that I like very much called Volusion but I am unsure if our current shopping cart which is oscommerce can simply be exported into this software or if the entire cart will need to be manually redone?)
3. There are still pages from the old website (done in Iweb) which are not linked in to the new site. These need to be fixed.
1. Professional subscribers need to be able to enter the category they want to be listed under when they join via the website. I think this will be a field that needs to be added but I’m not sure?
2. We would like to set up a newsletter / blog / forum via the website if possible. How hard and time-consuming will this be and with the newsletter, can this be laid out in dreamweaver and does it require any coding knowledge to do on a regular basis or, once we have our template set, we just type in and Bob’s our uncle? I hope it’s the latter!
3. We need a place for archiving our Doing the Rounds email newsletter (this is our current name for it – we just want everyone to be able to access past issues - probably simple but I’m not sure of where to start?)
4. We need to add email addresses on a regular basis. We don't know how to do this.
5. We recently changed the name of our magazine from Informed Voice to Living wisdom. The doman was set up but I can't find where it is located so I can't set up email addresses which is a real big problem.

Anyway, the two domains are www.avn.org.au and www.living-wisdom.com and we still have www.informedvoice.com.au as well.

I know this was long and I apologise. If anyone wants to take this on and has experience with this sort of thing, please let me know.

All the best,
Meryl

Hi Meryl

Sounds like an interesting job. Good luck with it.

You dont mention what you are looking for in a Joomla! professional? Or where you are?

Hi,
Thanks so much for your reply. The list of items in my post are what we are looking for help with right now though I'm sure that list will expand as we go along and realise that there are always more things to do for a website than you'd originally thought

We are located just outside of Bangalow which is 10 minutes west of Byron Bay. I would think that location may not matter that much as most things can be talked about over the phone or via email but hopefully this will help. Please write again if you're interested and need more details.

All the best,
Meryl

I develop websites all over the world, and working remotely and via video conference is my default method.
