TOPIC: Joomla / PHP developer wanted for training

Joomla / PHP developer wanted for training 2 years, 2 months ago #2618

Hi, I have produced two sites in Joomla and programmed in PHP to convert one of the old site's data over to the new site. I also built one of the Joomla templates from scratch that was designed for me. (using jtk tools for dreamweaver) I have a background in VBA and have picked up PHP programming a little. (namely string functions, regex & database code) - (more than a novice, but certainly not an expert)

I'd like to learn to become a Joomla / PHP Developer and would like an experienced professional to give me one, two or even 3 days of one on one training to kick start me in the way of...

PHP OOP
Use of Eclipse PDT (or similar IDE)
Relational database creation in MySQL (any tools for this?)
OOP database coding
Use of the Joomla object model, PEAR and other libraries
Introduction to any other useful development tools common to the industry.
Really helpful book recommendations

Look forward to your response.
Cheers
Pat

Hi Pat.

I'm doing Template training on Thursday afternoon in Adelaide I won't be back down to Melbourne until probably November. If you fancy a flight to Qld I could arrange something. We've not set a date for the Brisbane Joomla day but it's probably around May.

Failing that, you can see what you think of www.theartofjoomla.com/reference.html or we could work something out remotely via skype screen sharing. Shoot an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Thanks Andrew - I've subscribed to 'theartofjoomla' site. I will get my hands dirty with the resource info there. My aim is to learn as much as I can myself until I feel I need a hand to keep moving forward.

I may well be in touch with you later in the year to arrange some tutoring.

Two very quick questions:

Do you use Eclipse PDT? (if not, which IDE?)
Do you use "MySQL Workbench" to create/modify database schemas?

Thanks for the link. I'll be in touch.
Cheers
Pat
