Hi,
I met a few of the Sydney User Group at the Sydney Cebit event.
Normally I build basic Joomla sites for small business and teach the end user how to maintain the site.
I have a customer that requires a website bigger than I feel comfortable with.
Do you have any suggestions for a designer/site builder who will do the right thing by the customer. Eg. not rip them off, build a good quality site, be available for support after the site has been completed, etc.
Please let me know your thoughts.
The requirements the customer sent me are:
General Content – be able to have information about the customer, etc
Each of the branches have their own meetings, contacts etc. We’d like them to be able to have a section they can go in and update on their own, without necessarily having access to the rest of the site, but that if they add a news item, it’s visible on the front page and the news section.
News section in general where the general news from the customer is added but also the news from the individual branches, the current students, etc. It is important that we can give people restricted access to update their own data.
A photo gallery that is categories and again that individuals can add the photos to say after a reunion etc.
An events calendar where branches can post reunion dates, conferences etc.
Section where we can list recent appointments within the industry, at college and advertise jobs vacant.
Blogs that can also be updated by individuals, maybe even have their own blogs and create their own blog pages, with design etc (this might be down the track, maybe we start with a set number of blogs initially).
Current Students section where they can list their own field projects and news etc.
Be able to place advertising.
Products linked to Paypal or similar so members can renew subscriptions and purchase college merchandise.
Members section where members, past and present (old student, new student and old and new staff) can enter, register and update their own contact details, and post news items for others to read.
Forum where members can ask questions and maybe go online live in discussions (eventually).
Industry Links – where relevant industries can list what they do, what jobs they have available, how they can and will mentor student, or if someone wants to find an appropriate person in an industry to contact can use as a reference.
Newsletter/Journal – we already have members who receive a hard copy journal as part for their membership. I’d like to see all this be online eventually and some of the articles in the journal ext be featured on the home page etc.
Regards
Brenden
