While I love K2 it just doesn't cut it for a directory listing where I need to have paid listings. It seems to come down to SOBI2 (as used on this site) and Mosets Tree. I need the owner of the listing to be able to add their own details and photos plus show their business address on a google map.
Both apps can do what I want so was wondering others experience with either or both.

Ian
Neither of these two set my world on fire.
SOBI2 is practical and functional though, and I do favour it over Mosets.
The functionality in SOBI2 around charging for extras (e.g. images and multiple category listings) is easy to use. Havent used the Google map.

At the Jan MJUG meeting, someone mentioned http://www.phpmydirectory.com/ as a good alternative to build your directory outside of Joomla. This has Joomla login integration with it. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has had experience using this instead of the SOBI2 and Mosets options.

Hey Ian,

I'm really liking Sobi2 at the moment for Joomla 1.5 and SobiPro for Joomla 1.6.

It's taken me about 3 different sobi sites to learn the ins and outs of it, plus some custom Google Maps programming with the API to automate the maps to reverse search by address.

Only downside is the payment system for Sobi. It's limited to PayPal and if you can't programme in eWay then you're stuck with it.

Besides that I love it.
The only limitation is your imagination

I have a couple of directory website setup using phpmydirectory. It has integration with joomla so you can use joomla login and registration for your directory.

Their support is awesome
