Running Joomla 1.6 and have installed several free templates to try.

Trying to clean out excess templates but get the message: Cannot delete last style of a template.

Would I break anything if I simply delete the particular template folders using FTP? Sounds like a plan to me!

Sounds innocuous to me as long as you have one template left.

I'd take the cautious path though, and back up & restore to another location before giving it a go.

Yeah I deleted manually using FTP, but you also need to clean the extension out from the database manually or you will still see it there. The offending records are in xxx_template_styles.

OK, thanks Fellas! I might just put up with it for the moment till I finish fiddling.

Being a user of freebie templates (and all things freebie), it's not so easy to get what I want, first go.

Some of the templates that I've installed are based on Beez and have the add and remove info link at the top of the right sidebar, shifting some control from me to the visitor. Along with squishing with a skinny window and the proportional sizing of the sidebars, it really makes a mess of my layout.

Anyway, I'll keep looking.

Thanks.

First an apology, I accidentally deleted a post from Laurie which said
Ah! Success! I've found it! I was looking in the wrong place!

To delete unwanted templates you go to Extentions>Extention Manager>Manage then select the template you wish to delete and click Uninstall.

Easy when you know how!
Now my response . . .

J 1.6 uses this method for all extensions - a term that now encompasses components, modules, plugins, templates & languages.
