Anyway the English (Australian) language pack 1.7.0 has also been released.

FYI: An english Australian version of the TinyMCE editor version 3 has also been released. The standard Joomla! 1.7.0 GB release uses a USA version of TinyMCE and uses USA text. The AU TinyMCE version corrects the usage of USA text and serves no real purpose from an SEO point of view but corrects the usage of words such as "color" and "center" etc.

P.S. Page 4 on this forum appears broken in the english (Australian) language topic You can click page 1,2,3 but 4 reverts to page 2...

Re: Joomla! 1.7.0 released. 10 months ago #4546

Hi
tried up dating our 1.6.5 site to 1.7.0
used the 'update' link in 'extention manager'

all pages of the front end are now getting this error;

JDatabaseMySQL::query: 1054 - Unknown column 'ordering' in 'order clause' SQL=SELECT * FROM jos_languages WHERE published=1 ORDER BY ordering ASC

i am thinking that some of the commponents or plugins are not compatible with 1.7.0
any suggestions please?
cheers

Hi

It's likely that your template is the cause. Most of the template frameworks (Gantry, T3..etc) are cuasing probs in Joomla 1.7. If you are able to get in to the administrator, switch to a J1.7 supplied template e.g. Beez and see if it works OK with that.

And/or go to your template provider's forum and see if others have your error.

Failing that, see this: forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2565425 indicating that other extensions have also been causing probs with the upgrade.

My money's on the template tho - upgrade both it and its framework (if any).

There is a fairly large incidence of extensions needing tweaking for 1.7, despite assurances to the contrary

Our test show that one some hosts (shared hosting peculiarly) the manual method may be the only one possible because of these hosting limitations.

Upgrading locally will work on Macintosh, Windows, Linux MAMP, XAMPP, native Apache and will update the database as well as delete the obsolete folders and files from 1.6.5.

->This is personally the method I prefer as I can this way test my extensions.

Remind your users that backup of site and db is essential before doing anyhting (Akeeba works great).

Also, some extensions, not totally correctly coded for 1.6, may need an update to work in 1.7. For some it may only concern JVersion checking.

I know that Gantry and Kunena are among them.

You will need to wait for Kunena to update their code for 1.7

Sorry I can't be much more help.

Tis in the hands of Kunena to update their code which i'm sure won't be too long.

Good luck.

Joomla 1.6.6 is also released for those that can't upgrade to 1.7 just yet
The only limitation is your imagination

K 1.6.5 has just been released. See www.kunena.org for more information.
If you think I'm wrong then say "I think you're wrong". If you say "you're wrong" how do you know?
