I recently found a plugin for sending out HTML Newsletters. The plugin is called Joomlamailer and it's fantastic! Joomlamailer is a plugin that links in with your MailChimp account to send out HTML emails. MailChimp allows you to send out 12,000 emails per month to 2000 people which is more than enough for most small businesses.

Using Joomlamailer in the backend of your Joomla website you can create campaigns, lists, add Google Analytics to the mailer and view reports on who has opened your mail and what links they have clicked.
