Please RSVP below for the Amy Stephen Skypecast Saturday April 18

If you have any questions you'd like to see if Amy can answer during the webcast, post them here so she can select a few to answer.

Will be there!

Loved Amy's recent response in the Joomla! Community Blog to an article published by IT World Canada, My response to IT World Canada post "Microsoft Sweet-er than open source".

Thanks to Pete for organising this event.

Question for Amy: When are you coming to Australia?

Good question Dex.

I'd prefer not to have a 1 hour hike into Melb when I'm sure we can do a Skype Conf Call for the voice part and perhaps DimDim for any slides etc ?

Agree with the previous 2 comments. Is there a reason why remote users can't be "conferenced in" on the basis that they don't comment of interrupt the flow of the webcast.

I know Amy quite well through Twitter and would hate to miss the opportunity to hear her speak. It is surely possible to conference in remote users on the webcast itself and also one run by Patrick which is where the remote users could interact directly.

Cheers,

Ric

I'm in (of course).

To those of you asking about remote access, the issue is one of technology not policy. On that I defer to Raoul &/or Patrick.

I am however aiming at at least 10 people in the room - any less would be a slap in the face for one the key movers & shakers in the Joomla community.

The latest from Amy...
am looking forward to it!
i can show tamka - and the JoomlaSxSW entry
take questions on community issues/whatever

Hey you Aussie Joomla! Guys and Gals -

I know a lot of you already thru Joomla! in one way or another. Would love to come visit - except - you guys are heading into the cold now and we are finally warming up. I think I'll stay put at least until our Autumn comes, and you are greeting Spring, again.

Thanks so much for inviting me to talk with you. I'll have a demo of Tamka and the JoomlaSxSW ready. I am also interested in hearing from you what directions and ideas you have for the project. I hope we start finding better ways to involve one another in collaborative activities -- I think that's how we can really leverage the brain trust of this international gathering of geeks.

Please post your questions and ideas during the week and I'll try to find answers before we meet.

Thanks again! Can't wait to get together!
Amy

Hi Amy, thanks for being or guest on Friday/Saturday. We're really looking forward to it! Here are some questions, I'd really love to hear you speak about.

As a small time component developer, the Open Source paradigm sometimes seems to be a little like a chain letter - you develop stuff and give it away for free in the hope that the someone/somewhere/sometime will send you money. I'm not sure how it works or even if it works. What do you think?

What do you think the role of Open Source Software will be in the face of our current economic circumstances? Is it a problem or an opportunity?

You're a Joomla developer and user (at least) of other CMSs. How do you think Joomla shapes up against those products. And others?

A Dorthy Dixer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Dix) this one . . . Many people feel that they would like to put back a little into the Joomla community. What are the ways thay people can do that? And why should they bother?

Hi Amy, (AKA The Joomla Princess ),

Very keen to hear more about Tamka. What is it? How does it compare to Wordpress? Will WP Plugins seamlessly integrate? How long before it's available?

Cheers,

Ric

For Amy's session tommorrow go to:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/melbourne-joomla-user-group

It might be an idea to register at ustream also.
This way when you appear, you can have your own username, rather than some auto randomly generated id number thingy...

Also,
Amy and I already conducted a test with www.yuuguu.com/home to capture Amy's desktop.
Basically Amy provide a "code" and that is used to access her desktop.

So skype for audio, and YuuGuu for desktop.
I see no reason why other can't install and YuuGuu and view Amy's desktop also.
This would save me pointing a camera at our projector.

I'll check with Amy if this is okay just before the meeting.

Cheers.

Louis Landry was right - you guys *are* nice!

Thanks so much for the invitation to your Joomla! User Group and allowing me to share "Joomla! according to Amy." As you know doubt could tell, I love this project and community and experiences like this are a big reason why. Joomla! people are great.

Look forward to seeing you around Twitter and the Joomla! world. Let me know when that International Joomla! event is scheduled -- I'll buy my ticket!

Kind regards and thanks,
Amy
