What about building custom extension/component: outsource or build yourself and also discuss the charge and cost of building custom extension/component.

Topics this week will include hosting discussion (starting at the beginning of the joomla site building process - making sure Joomla's going to actually run!), as well as some general chit chat.

Some recent offline discussion has indicated that we're getting very good at getting off track in the MJUG meetings, so to reign that in a little, the future aim will be to:
- Cut down on introductions at the start. Old and new members should introduce themselves on the forums, and I'll be bringing along some name badges
- Stick to a 45-60 minute presentation by someone as the topic for the evening
- Have more open Q&A and networking session after that, rather than kicking off that part around 9:30pm and ending up leaving at 11:30pm!

We can also look at trying to get out of AMSI around 9:00 - 9:30 and network more nearby with some beverages?!?

Vincent, we've been talking in recent months about organising a full day workshop on developing projects, so will talk with you more if you can make it on Wednesday. The group's a mix of designers, programmers, implementers and hobbyists, so we're mixing topics during the year.

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop a line in and say that it was nice to meet you all at last night's session. I'm looking forward to attending a couple more in the future and giving back what i can to the community.

Tones.

Hi All,

It was good to be back at MJUG (finally got a day without clashes this time). Patrick, maybe we could get a quote to make these badges you are talking about - like make it every 2 months or something - what do you all reckon?

Great start for the new "alignment" however it is appreciated if one person talks at a time and not to go overboard with a topic for long - it can dread the interest of members a little bit. We can do better for May !!

Regards,
Amrit

I agree - it was good to see an agenda on the whiteboard!

I'd like to add that it is also nice to have a site showcase every now and again (maybe not every month) - give a dedicated 10mins for someone to showcase a site that has extensions that may be new to some. Always a source of inspiration!

Amrit - Name tags I was talking about were just regular cards people can write their names on. I just forgot to put the box in the car last week.

Getting and sticking to an agenda is the aim. I believe for May we have someone that's going to do a more formal presentation as the main feature of the night. More on that soon.

I just want to say a big thank you to all those involved in broadcasting the MJUG meeting and the Amy Stephen meet. It was just fantastic to be able to participate in what was happening without having to travel all the way to Melbourne.

Much and all as I would love to be there, the almost 500km round trip for a meeting is a bit much, besides, you blokes didn't even break for a smoke..

I sincerely hope the broadcasts will become a regular feature of the group's get togethers and events.

Cheers,

Ric
