Hi Guys,

Does anyone has any suggestions for the topics to be discussed in next MJUG meeting?

I need some help to get the list of topics where people are having difficulties or would like to know more about .

Feel free to add any topics and see if I can explain those topics in next MJUG meeting.

Well I've been thinking a lot about admin templates, where a client will login and basically, you just want it to be really simple for them to use.

So, topic: back-end template and back-end usability.

The difficulty is, where some input would be really great, is that while you have templates like AdminPraise3, or user access extensions where you can make your own menu for them (essentially...), sometimes they just don't integrate with everything (some components use custom css, and so their menus are everything..), and I'd like to know a few helpful things about admin templates so that I can customise either the standard admin tempalte or other ones.

E.g. often admin templates have different module placements, but if you want to add something to that position, it doesn't necessary 'work' (show). I guess it'd be the same tack as front-end template, but an overview of where all the files are etc are good.

So: two major points to cover on this - admin templates, and, admin usability (e.g. changing 'apply' text to 'save' and the 'save' text to 'save & close').

Perhaps a look at what admin extensions people use to tackle this, as an overview. And any deeper questions might be tackled on the forum (as they are often very specific rather than useful to everyone).

It'd be a real help if someone has already done the hard work of getting a good system going for making things easy for clients.

Okay if this is an option for a topic,

I would also like to look at some of the CCK options, for helping make things more simple for clients.
Like K2, Zoo, (oops sorry John and Pete I completely forgot to send that file through to you will do asap).

How to set these up basically and how they can be used to keep the client uploaded content neat (and not destroy a nice page design- slowly over time)

cheers,

I've been looking at K2 with a view to presenting on it in April (I won't be there next week), so maybe we can hold off K2 until then.

Nathan's suggestion sounds like a great topic - I'd be sorry to miss it!

Likewise I'll be unable to make the March meeting but I'm in the midst of my first K2 site and would love to hold over the K2 talk until the April meeting.

Cheers

Hi all,

Late notice one for this meeting.
But I was just looking at the following shopping cart.

www.ecwid.com/

I havent been on rocket theme for a while and saw their March template tonight and noticed that it uses ecwid to power its ecommerce capabilities. I have only had a 10 minute look at the ecwid site (so no guarantees are given with my super in depth research ) but the video turorial looked really simple and the interface really nice. It also seems to have some nice functionality and a reasonable amount of developers in the team (snazzy headshots too!!).

Again I have only really quickly browsed over this page, but thought if someone had scoured over this in more detail than me (and also had a better programmers perspective) that they might shed some more light on whether it is a realistic option or not at tomorrows meet.

Any how, look forward to seeing you all there tomorrow.

cheers,

Anthony S.

Hi,

After about 50 attempts, I finally remembered my credentials to log in.

mmm, I haven't had any experience with any of the above, but am willing to sit and listen?

Doors are programmed and signs are out on the walk way so hopefully no one will get lost.
