Hi all,

I have a client who wishes to stick with their own server for their emails but wishes to transfer the DNS for the site only to our server.
Is anyone familiar with the changes that need to be made in the WHM panel to facilitate this?

Cheers,

Hi Anthony,

I had a similar issue with one of my clients.

If your client wants to keep their own server (ie: for emails) they need to update their DNS 'A RECORD' and 'CNAME' details to point to your server, so that when someone types in www.clientwebsite.com.au it points to the correct website files (ie: yours).

The emails and other stuff will still be looked after by their own servers MX RECORD.

Here's what you should do:
Go into your WHM cPanel, take a screen grab of your sites DNS zone for the website. Give that screen grab to your clients IT guys and let them update their own DNS Zone A RECORD and CNAME from the screen grab details. They will have to do this anyway as it seems they won't be giving you access to their servers DNS Zone - easy job

That's all I did in the end and it was fine.

I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Neil.
