Hi all,

I am looking for someone who is experienced with either of the following CCK's;

Zoo or K2.

They must have used them fairly extensively and be able to demonstrate all the ins and outs during the lesson.

We are both completely inexperienced with these components...

We are primarily looking at using them for client updating of our websites. We would like to set up various article templates so that the user would fill out: For example:

Heading
Sub Heading
Add Image
Text

And this information would be automatically formatted the same on each page (within that article template).

We would like to be able to set up various article templates for different sections in the site.
(I hope that either CCK will enable us to do this, again due to our inexperience with them I am unsure whether this is their function or not)

I would like to organise for someone to come to our East Malvern Office for a single session (about 4 hours max - this will hopefully be enough time to go over everything) to get myself and one employee fully up to speed on using the component. We need to do this at the earliest availability of the teacher.
On either this Wednesday or Friday.
Or after that any Monday or Wednesday between 9AM and 5PM.

If anyone is interested and available please let me know what your rates are and shoot your contact details through and I will be in touch.

Cheers,

Anthony S.

OK, first of all I'll stick my neck out here and say that I don't like the K2 standard item template. It uses h2 tags for your headings and this is something I disagree with. Item heading should, IMHO, be h1 tags. I have a template override which fixes this and you are welcome to it.

Secondly, if you need help with K2 Anthony, I will gladly assist you at not cost. Let's call it "giving back to the community". Just let me know how you would like to deal with this. Skype would be best I suggest.

Cheers,

As Ric already knows I'm also about to embark on using K2 (see previous post: joomla.org.au/forum/joomlaoz-discussion/k2-specific-extensions) and am busy training myself as fast as possible as I'm starting to build a new site with it next week.

I have just watched these videos and have found them useful for an overall understanding:

K2 for Beginners
Advanced K2

I'm also finding this site to be useful:

K2 Tutorials

But in saying all that, if you do end up getting someone to provide professional training in a face-to-face settings in inner Melbourne, I would be interested in sharing costs with you. PM me if you're keen.

Thanks,
Jenny

Hi Ric,

Thanks for your offer, that sounds great.
I would be very interested in doing this in which ever way it would suit you best.
If you think we can get everything across via skype then I am happy to do this.

Otherwise, I would be more than happy to compensate you if you were able to travel to the office here. (Again what ever suits).
If you do decide to travel, Jenny you would be more than welcome to come along as well. Its not a big office, but would house all of us easy enough.

In the mean time I will jump onto those videos and see what we can glean....

My phone number is 0425 844 461
or Ric shoot through your details to

Great.

I think one of my greatest challenges to understand is what extra fields I need to set up and how they interact with categories. And then, how are they used on the front end - both for display and for search capabilities.

Jen/Ant - did you guys ever catch up re K2 "training" - depending on timing I'd be happy to chip in some funds for Ric's travel or share some info I've gained from using K2 thus far ...

Caught up with Anthony and his mate on Monday. Unfortunately, Jen couldn't make it.

Let's see how tomorrow night goes with the MJUG. Anthony will have me on Skype or Woodsy, one of the two. Hopefully we can all chip in with something.

Yeah, I'm sorry I missed the arranged catchup but have been having a good 'play' with k2 setup today and am looking forward to the meeting tomorrow night. Maybe if us newbies still have some key questions/issues at the end of the meeting we can arrange another catch up.

Hi all,

yes I will be there with bells on too.
Ric gave me a really good overview of K2 and its definitely a winner component for joomla.

I spent an hour on Skype with Anthony. Feel free to add me on Skype or email me any questions you might have. As I've said before, I am no expert, but will gladly offer what assistance I can.

I think it may be worthwhile us paying you to meet up Ric. I haven't spoken to the others to see where they are at but I will do so individually and see what we can arrange time wise and then all insomewhere/somehow would be a better result.

I had Michael working who waw our in house guru with it and I have next to nothing in the knowledge bank with it.

Let me see where everyone else is with it and then we can follow up from there.

Cheers
