TOPIC: Joomla 1.5.10

Joomla 1.5.10 3 years ago #1423

Hi All,

During last week's meeting (April 2009), John showed a Joomla update button under the control panel under 1.5.10. I don't see it on mine - have I missed some important steps?

Regards,
Amrit

Amrit,

There's a number of tools that do similar things (extensions.joomla.org/extensions/tools/site-management-tools and extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-enhancements/installers), however the one John's been showing off is actually a version not available from JED any more, as the Joomla Magic Updater has been updated to be a commercial product, so it's latest version is pretty much crippleware.

However, if you go to forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=355077 and login to the joomla forum, you'll be able to download the last pre-commercial version of the Joomla Magic Updater, which was 1.4.0.

Note the link at the top of the page is broken, but there is a replacement link a few posts further down.

All you need to then do is install the component, and you'll then have a new control panel icon that you can use to click and update your Joomla site.

Edited the post shortly after I posted when I found that the link was broken yesterday. The one further down the forum thread works.

I have both the old version and the new version. Haven't tested the new version yet as it is on a site to be launched soon.

I think the new one is still on the JED though Patrick...

extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-en...tallers/7530/details

In fact it seemed there were two versions of the same extn on there.

@Amrit... The button you saw on the Control panel is when the latest edition of the extn is installed. It's an encouragement to update to the Pro version, that's all....

Cheers,

Ric

Thanks all for the feedback. I hope this feature will/maybe be available for Joomla 1.6. Do at times we tend to forget to update and with this feature; it's a huge sign of relief (in some way). :-D
