Hi Partic,

During the last couple of weeks I've been wondering about some topics I would like to discuss on the Brisbane Group Meeting. You might be able to raise them on the Melb Meeting if you find them interesting.

Extensions development and the use of MVC pattern
I see the potential of the MVC pattern on the 1.5 version but there are many web developers that don't use it at all on Joomla component development.
Questions: How important is the use of software engineering techniques(MVC) on Joomla programming? When to use?

The competition with online freelancers
Lets say I am interested in getting a freelance trough a web site like www.joomlancers.com or www.elance.com. Once I start looking at the jobs and the offers I wonder how Joomla developers can compete with such low prices and big solutions.
Questions: How reasonable should I be when posting my bid? Is it possible to compete as a serious developer? Is that worth?

Taking Joomla seriously
Sometimes I listen Programmers with different backgrounds(.NET, JAVA, etc) under estimating the potential of the Joomla Framework.
Questions: Why is that?

Thats it! Let me know how it goes.

Cheers!
Jose Soares

We gotta do something about offering easy access to the minutes of each meeting guys.
It took me a full five minutes to just get here... (Seaching had me in Canberra's area!)

Can we add another menu on the LHS that only appears for logged in users and when Melbourne nav is linked?

    Very handy for Joomla training/demo

8:16 How do people choose templates?
People tend to have a few favourite developers, such at RocketTheme, YooTheme, Joomlashack etc
Suggest to subscribe to such sites. MM claims YooTheme's template structure can be "shocking"

8:30 Conducted (official) round the room introductions, and continued with Q&A

9:05 Close officially, people talking in small groups.

    10:30 Raoul kicked people out!
