The number of template providers in the Joomla space seems to be growing and there is such a plethora of options out there. I also notice that there seems to be a shift away from SME type templates to ones far more suited to large corporates and in particular magazines or newspapers.

I thought I would start this thread to tap into the wisdom of the crowd in regard to templates suitable for SMEs.

Personally, I have an aversion to template clubs, because I don't like to be locked in to any one provider. One of the reasons I moved to Joomla was because I could acquire professional templates at a cost far lower than that for hand coding a static site.

I have purchased Artisteer, but haven't played with it much as this stage. I am also aware that it has a problem with collapsing modules at this point in time.

OK, my first contribution for good SME templates, I would recommend Weblogic from Joomlashack. It has several color variations and can be purchased singly with additional licences at a discounted rate.

I am also currently developing a site using Rocketheme's Hivemind template, which I have also found suitable for a business web site.

Ok - I'm out of the loop... Didn't know what SME stood for - but after a google I'm thinking it's Small to Medium Enterprise - although other IT acronyms included - System Management Entity & Secure Mobile Environment...

FYI - Other options for SME included:
- Sausage McMuffin with Egg (McDonalds) - obviously
- Sloppy Meateaters ( a band, apparently)

Re templates..... I have used artisteer - I'm not sure if it saves time - I have to add some extras afterwards as well as a few fixes - but don' t mind it - have no prob with collapsing mods - but am tinkering a bit.

In many cases, I find it takes about the same time to customise a template (for a relatively unique look - not just change logo) as to build one from scratch (or from a home-made skeleton).

I guess I'm not adding much - but as long as the template will handle the addons I need, that's really my biggest criteria.

SME is not an IT acronym, but a business one and has been around for many years, at least since the 1980s.

I'm surprised that it is causing some consternation here. If you search on Google, you will find the Wikpedia definition at item number 1.
