Have just taken over a web site, that is using Joomla.
Would like to upgrade to 1.5.
Change front page.
Add extra features.

Hi Mitch

Not sure how much you already know but all your current extensions / addons - i.e all your added modules, components, plugins, templates are specific for Joomal 1.0

Thus for yoru new website - you will need to find either a version of each extension / addon that is compatible with 1.5 or an alternative.

Then you need to migrate the database
docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable

What I normally do is:
1. plan to use a new template anyway - so make this a revamp - if you are migrating - you are essentailly building a new site and just migrating the database across.
2. install new version of joomla on new site
3. install chosen or built template
4. install extensions.
5. migrate teh database

Sometimes I find there are manual things that need to be done on eth database to get all the data & tables across in a usabel format and sometimes manual scripts need to be written for specific programs etc.

It's a big task - but it's worth it - unless you want to wait for 1.6.....

With best wishes

Audra
