Well, the company where I work desperately needed a new intranet. But the challenge was to make it with zero budget. We went through the list of intranet solution providers none of which we could afford, but it gave us heaps of ideas. Several months later we tested Joomla, and it fit the bill, so to speak. It has been up and running for a few months now, and so far has been well received.
I am so impressed with Joomla, I have used it for two private websites (one is a NPO and the other for some friends with a new biz selling western gear.)
I want to learn more so I can develop a few simple extensions for our intranet and hopefully, if it's good enough, give back to the Joomla community.
My first project, as a means of getting to know Joomla 1.5, is an intranet based travel approval form and tracker. It's been slow going, but with the help of some joomla books, I'll keep slogging away at it.
