Peter Bui will be presenting at this month's meetup about search engine optimisation with Joomla and certain aspects of SEO that you may never have heard of before.

In this talk we look at a how you can harness the power of Joomla by creating your own plugins and modules. This talk is aimed at beginners, not hard core developers.

Topic 1: Joomla 2.5's Hidden Features — User Profiles and Terms of Service with Craig Phillips
In this talk we look at a few features that were slipped into the Joomla! 2.5 releases after the Joomla! 2.5 was released and how they can be useful. Specifically we'll be looking at how to configure and use the the extended User Profiles options and the new "Terms of Service" option. If we get time we'll also look a few of the other changes that have arrived since 2.5.0.
Craig Phillips has been working with the web since before the gold rush days of "Dotcom" and has been working with Joomla! since the early beta's of 1.5 back in the halcyon days of 2006! Starting out on an original Apple I kit and passing through Tandy TRS-80's, Commodore PET's, Apple II's,IIe's, and every Mac since the original 128K — Craig has been an avid software developer with a strong leaning towards system security and embedded applications. Today Craig, runs a small software development company that specialises in bespoke and commercial Joomla! extensions and enterprise IOS applications.
Topic 2: Save my site with Ricardo.
For those that haven't been part of a "save my site" session, this is where one of our users shows off their Joomla website to the group, and talks about any problems they have been struggling with. This is an opportunity for the group to offer advice and constructive feedback on how to improve the website. The two sites Ricardo will be showing off are http://home.exetel.com.au/noviny/ and http://www.coleoptera.org/.

We'd had some feedback that our meetings are a bit too technical for beginngers, so we are going to try to have both a beginner topic and more advanced topic each month from now on.
Topic1: ComModPlug: Joomla apps, boxes & event handlers. Get a Grip on Extensions in Joomla with @daniib.
Topic2: Conference Review. This is an opportunity to share with the group what you have learnt from Sydney JoomlaDay 2012, and talk more about Joomla 3.0. If you've already built some Joomla 3.0 sites, please bring a show and tell, we'd all like to hear your experiences.
